When to Visit the Kimberley

The 'dry' season is traditionally the most popular time to visit the Kimberley. During this season from May to October, the region experiences clear blue skies and comfortable day (average 30 degrees celsius) and night (average 20 degrees celsius) temperatures. There is very little rainfall at this time.

The tropical monsoonal climate of the Kimberley also ensures that the region experiences a 'wet' season. At this time, from November to April, the Kimberley receives 90% of its rainfall. Average maximum temperatures generally exceed 35 degrees celsius. The weather is often hot and humid and extreme weather events often occur.

The countryside during the wet season turns a magnificent shade of green and waterfalls are at their most spectacular. Many tours continue to operate during this season, but some attractions become inaccessible due to road closures and flooding. Check with a Kimberley Visitor Centre for further information.
