Vast distances separate many of the main attractions in the Kimberley. Travelling between these attractions by car can be both an exhilarating and challenging experience.

Road conditions can be very demanding on all vehicles and drivers should allow for increased fuel consumption, driver fatigue and vehicle breakdowns. Many roads are suitable for high clearance four-wheel drive vehicles only.

Many marked roads in the Kimberley are not for public use. Permission to travel into pastoral leases and Aboriginal lands must be requested before entry. Many roads are unfenced and straying livestock and wildlife are prevalent, especially at night. All travel into remote areas must be well planned and informed.

Alternate ways to travel around the Kimberley include road coach tours and charters, air charters, boat charters and via the Ibis Aerial Highway.
