The Kimberley region enjoys enviable agricultural economic activity, partly due to the region's freedom from many serious animal and plant diseases.

Quarantine measures in the region and in Western Australia ensure that the Kimberley remains well protected from animals, plants, weeds, pests and diseases that could cause problems.

Quarantine measures are in place at airports and seaports in the region. For road travellers measures apply to:

• Travel into the Ord River Irrigation Area from the other parts of Western Australia
  
  
• Travel into the Kimberley (or Western Australia) from other Australian states and territories
  
  
• Travel into the Noogoora Burr Quarantine Area along the Fitzroy River
