There are a range of businesses and organisations operating in various industry sectors in the Region. Broome, Derby and Kununurra are the major centres in the Kimberley Region providing retail services, whilst smaller retail ventures operate in Fitzroy Crossing, Halls Creek and Wyndham.

Retail activity for the region has been measured in terms of turnover and was recorded at $211 million for the financial year 1998-99. Turnover has steadily to reach $378 million in 2008-09, an average annual rate of 6.0% over the decade.
